Rope toys are arguably the most fun – both to play with your dog and to watch your dog play with on their own. The majority of toys that your dog plays with will just be chewed – that doesn’t sound like much fun for us humans to watch. Enter the humble oft-forgotten rope toy!
ONE TOY SO MANY USES
Tug toy - This one is obvious. You take one end while puppy takes the other. Only the cute win at this game.
Fetch toy - almost every dog known to man-kind loves to play fetch. Rope toys are great because you don’t have to exert much effort for the rope to be thrown a long distance which means you can both keep playing for longer.
Chew toy - give your pup some time alone (supervised, of course) with their rope toy and watch them chew like crazy!
Reward - after a training session with your dog, break out their favourite rope toy as a reward for good behaviour. Treats don’t always have to be food related!
GREAT FOR TEETH
Rope toys can act as a floss where the action of chewing is cleaning their teeth, keeping them strong and healthy. In addition, the physical chewing on a tough toy is good for general gum health. Rope toys can also be wet and frozen in the freezer for a teething puppy too – just make sure you give this to them outside on the lawn or somewhere else that the thawing water won’t cause a mess!
THEY’RE A GREAT WAY TO PLAY WITH YOUR DOG
Other than the humble ball, rope toys are the best way to play with your dog. From rope toy dinosaurs to rope toy ducks the fun never ends – so many possibilities! There is nothing like coming home from work, grabbing your rope toy and playing with your dog!
